At The Red Door Church – First United Methodist Church of Crestline, we believe faith isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we live. We are a mission-driven, community-minded church that takes Jesus’ call to love our neighbors seriously.

That love looks like food drives for the hungry, flood buckets for disaster relief, prayer shawls for those in need of comfort, farmers market, and even a pet ministry—because God’s love extends to all creatures. It looks like supporting international missions through UMCOR and showing up for our neighbors in Crestline in tangible ways. But more than just meeting needs, we’re about building relationships, offering hope, dignity, and a place where everyone belongs.

With open hearts and willing hands, we listen for where God is calling us to serve next. Rev. Jennifer Whitmore

Pastor
I'm Pastor Jenny, and I've had the joy of leading this wonderful community since July of 2024, though my heart has been in ministry since I was licensed in 2018. My educational journey through social work at The Ohio State University and divinity at Methodist Theological School in Ohio has deepened my approach to pastoral care and community engagement.

Isaiah 40:31 speaks volumes to me: "But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." This verse is a daily reminder of the endless strength and renewal that trust in the Lord brings. It’s this scripture that steers my vision for our church—creating a place where trust in God lifts us up, renews our spirits, and keeps our steps steady, no matter the journey.

Alongside my husband Brooks and our family, I find great joy in every connection and every conversation, whether during Sunday service or a casual chat in the Crestline community. It’s a blessing to be part of the Red Door Church family, where each day is a fresh opportunity to experience and share the love and goodness of God.

Music Director
"Lord, please bless my music that it might glorify your name.  May using it to serve you always be my aim."

These are the beginning words of a poem that our choir recites in prayer every Sunday morning when we do a run-through of our music prior to our worship service.  These words (and the rest of the poem that you can read on this website), are at the core of what we believe music ministry should be.

It has been my privilege to be choir director of our church since 1978 and to be organist as well for over 20 years. We welcome all who enjoy music, who seek the fun & fellowship of being in a choir, and who have a desire to give their “time & talents” for God. (No matter how large or small those talents might be.)

I have been the church secretary since June of 2006. This is the perfect spot for a retired teacher to land after 30 years. When I applied, they jokingly told me I was overqualified for this job and 19 years later that is not the case. Working at the church gives me mental challenges that I would not have if I was at home. I am able to use my organizational skills, creative skills, writing skills, and people skills that I developed during my years of teaching.

I enjoy working with the many leaders of the church on projects that encourage and embrace those who wish for a closer relationship with the people of this church family and Jesus. I look forward to a few more years of this wonderful job. It is true that if you love your job you will never work a day in your life.
